GOURMET TOUR IN ITALY

Day 1: Rome

After your arrival at Rome’s airport, your personal driver will lead you to the center of the eternal city.

Check-in at your hotel and rest.

In the afternoon, start your walking tour discovering the authentic Roman cuisine. Your private guide will lead you to the Testaccio area where Roman cuisine was born and it is no wonder that is known to Romans as the ‘heart of Rome’. In our guided 4-hour walking Food Tour, you will experience the city like a local, in a neighborhood where people live, eat and shop. Featuring nine authentic food stops with exquisite delicacies, you can escape from the crowd and enjoy the best of what the city offers. Along the way, your guide will entertain you with stories and insights on Rome’s culture and history, while exploring the city’s most fascinating offbeat landmarks. This is the best way to discover the real Rome and stray away from traditional tourist activities.

Day 2: Rome

In the morning, you will visit the world’s smallest country and the center of the Catholic World, Vatican City. There, you will also visit the impressive St. Peter’s square and Church, as well as the Vatican Museums, Raffaello’s rooms and the Sistine Chapel.

You will attend a homemade Italian banquet for lunch at a local restaurant in the heart of Rome and enjoy a glass or two of wine with your meal.

After lunch begins your half-day tour with a guided walk to Rome’s classic monuments and piazzas.

Starting from the great Piazza Navona, your guide will navigate Rome’s throbbing streets as you wind towards the iconic Pantheon. This 1.5-hour walking tour will end by making a wish at the Trevi Fountain.

After the tour, it’s time for a cooking class in a restaurant of selection nearby. Under the guidance of an expert Italian chef, you’ll learn how to prepare a fantastic 3-course Italian meal. Once you’ve prepared your dishes, take a seat in the restaurant and enjoy a memorable dinner with your fellow aspiring chefs.

Day 3: Rome

In the morning, enjoy a scenic drive through the delightful Tuscan wine countryside before reaching your first destination: one of the most beautiful and prestigious producers in the whole Chianti Classic region.

The tour begins in the vineyards where a professional sommelier will give you an explanation of the territory, the combination of local climate, soils and grape varieties that makes wines so exclusive to each region. You will visit the most prestigious wineries of Lazio and taste unique wines.

Continue your tour, discovering olive oil producers in this region. You will learn how the whole process works and taste exquisite oils.

Shortly after, your guide will take you to a local Trattoria to taste the best of what Chianti offers, for example the Bruschette (rustic bread dripping with extra virgin olive oil, basil and ripe tomatoes), Pappardelle alla Lepre (long flat pasta with wild hare) and various regional specialties. Vin Santo and Cantucci-dessert wine, as well as Tuscan cookies, will satisfy you at the end of this amazing meal.

Transfer to your hotel in the Chianti area and enjoy your free leisure time.

Day 4: Chianti area/Florence

After breakfast, your private driver will lead you to Florence. Florence’s rich past as the cultural center of the Italian Renaissance can still be seen today in the wealth of art gathered here as well as in the preservation of its splendid architectures. Enjoy a tour of the city that includes visit of the Duomo, the Baptistery, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio.

In the afternoon enjoy a “gelato making” tour. Florence is home to some of the best gelato and there are numerous shops essentially only a few feet away from one another. You will discover the best shops in town where the gelato-makers create their own specialty with local and seasonal ingredients. You will also learn how to make traditional hand-made gelato in an artisan “Florentine gelateria”. Following, visit historical cafés, gourmet sweets shops and end your tour with a bonus stop to taste a gelato-friendly dessert wine.

Stay the night in Florence.

Day 5: Modena/Bologna

In the morning, move towards the city of Modena. On the way, you will stop by a cheese producer to taste the most popular of all cheeses: the Parmigiano Reggiano, and discover its secrets.

After lunch, will visit another producer and discover a further gastronomic gem of this area: the traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena. Enjoy a taste of this local product.

Continue to Bologna. You will have dinner in a famous local restaurant. Stay the night in Bologna.

Day 1: Florence – Arrival

Visit the Slow Food Earth Market, which is set in the characteristic courtyard of the Cineteca di Bologna, by a stroll through the market stalls selling a variety of locally grown and Slow Food Presidia products from the Emilia Romagna region: honey, cheeses, salami, confectionary, wines and beer.

You will have lunch in a typical local restaurant to taste the Emilia Romagna cuisine. After the meal, you’ll have free time to walk through Bologna’s streets and explore the untouched medieval center.

The afternoon is dedicated to the region’s finest motoring brands: Ferrari, Lamborghini and Ducati.

Depending on your taste and interests, a visit to their museums can be arranged.

Stay in Bologna the night.

Day 7: Venice

After breakfast, your private driver will bring you to Venice. Check-in at your hotel.

Enjoy a guided tour of the city: St Mark’s Square and the Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and Rialto Bridge.

Stroll through the little streets and alleyways among the little local shops.

For lunch, you will enjoy dining in a Michelin 2 star rated restaurant which is famous for its high quality fish and classic interpretations. If you are a fan of seafood pasta or raw fish, this place will go above and beyond all your expectations.

In the afternoon, enjoy free time at your leisure.

Day 8: Venice

In the morning, meet your private guide in the hotel and depart by private boat to visit Murano, the small island famous for its glassware and glass laboratories. Then head to Burano, another small island of Venice where the fishermen’s houses are painted in bright colors. Also discover Burano’s renowned lace-making laboratories.

In the afternoon, enjoy a gourmet lagoon tour to experience the indigenous agricultural products, especially the native fish species wines. During this gourmet tour you can also learn more about the fishing techniques and culinary traditions of Venice.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast, your private driver will transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
